Move your classroom to the fascinating environment of the Calgary Zoo for a week of innovative learning and an adventure you won’t forget!

Zoo School is a “wild” place where teachers and students explore the diversity of living things and our role as stewards of the natural world. Students have the opportunity to investigate the Zoo, participate in education programs, meet keepers, practice the art and science of observation, and come nose to nose with at least one of the Zoo's animal residents. Each week is custom-designed for the grade level, incorporates a year-long focus developed by the teacher, and is a catalyst for learning and exploration throughout the entire school year.

Zoo School is proudly sponsored by Chevron Canada as a site for the Chevron Open Minds School Program. The program is available to Calgary teachers for Grades 2-12 through application only.

Check out this thank you video to our sponsor Chevron from Grade 9 students at St Rose of Lima School.

Chevron Zoo School wins the Mayor’s Excellence Award
Zoo School is part of a network of week long "schools" at different sites around Calgary called Open Minds/Campus Calgary.  This innovative network of 14 different sites has just received the Mayor's Excellence Award in the Category of "Special Settings".  The funders of Open Minds/Campus Calgary, including Chevron who funds Zoo School, will be honored at a special dinner.
This award is presented by the Calgary Education Partnership Foundation who recognize and celebrate the efforts of business, community and education working together to improve the quality of public education in our community. The Mayors’ Excellence Awards are symbols of achievement and are presented to partnerships that stand as benchmarks by continuing to positively impact the education of our children.
