Bugs & Bouquets

Make a Difference This Valentine’s Day

Bugs & Bouquets

This Valentine’s Day, forget chocolates and roses—what better way to show your love for wildlife conservation and the animals at your zoo than by treating them to festive enrichment they’re sure to adore? Introducing Bugs & Bouquets, your chance to support animal care at your Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo while dedicating your gift to someone special.

For many of the animals at your zoo, bugs—delicious, protein-packed options like crickets, superworms, and cockroaches—as well as bouquets of flowers, are elements of their balanced daily nutrition or exciting enrichment opportunities.

Our dedicated Animal Care, Health & Welfare team, including our expert Animal Nutritionist, work tirelessly to provide every animal with the perfect diet. They prioritize nutrient-rich meals, daily enrichment, and best-in-class veterinary care to ensure our animals are happy and healthy.

How You Can Help

Make a small donation to feed these species their favourite snack or gift them with beautiful blooms! Whether it’s a superworm for a slender-tailed meerkat or a bouquet for a Malayan tapir, your gift goes a long way in supporting their care.

Even better, you can dedicate your donation to your special someone! Nothing says “true love” like a cockroach (the ultimate survivor), or a heartfelt bouquet made with love. You’ll also have the option to send a personalized Valentine’s Day card to let them know about your thoughtful gift.
