2016 Reports
Message from the President and CEO
The Calgary Zoo began 2016 with a new resolution – we want to be more than a “zoo that does some conservation”; we want to be a “conservation organization that happens to have a zoo.” Of course, we are very proud to be known as a fun place to spend the day with family and friends. Yet we are less known for our conservation work, for which we have been listed alongside top research zoos in the world.
Message from the Chairman of the Board
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank all 77,000 members and our many community partners for your continuing support for one of Calgary’s most vital civic assets and one of Canada’s most important wildlife conservation organizations. There was much to celebrate in 2016. In welcoming more than 1.3 million visitors, the Calgary Zoo was again the most visited zoo in Canada.
2015 Reports
Message from the President and CEO
One of the words that we at the Calgary Zoo often use, is the word “hope”. We define hope as the confidence that one day humans will live sustainably and in harmony with the natural world around us. Yes, there are many challenges threatening species around the planet, but there are also many reasons to have hope. I am very proud that the work of the Calgary Zoo in 2015 helped to inspire hope.
Message from the Chairman of the Board
2015 will be a remembered as a year of tremendous success for the Calgary Zoo. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate the zoo’s senior management team and the many dedicated employees whose passion and commitment once again reinforced the zoo’s leadership role in Calgary, nationally, and internationally.
